Laptop versions of these chipsets may work, but may run comparatively slower. Standalone cards that are installed in vanilla PCI slots (not PCIe or PCIx or AGP), such as some GeForce FX variants, will perform poorly. Intel integrated chipsets featuring underclocked parts will not perform adequately.
Integrated chipsets such as the ATI Xpress and the NVIDIA TurboCache variants will have low settings selected, but should run satisfactorily.
Please note that attempting to play the game using video hardware that isn’t listed above may result in reduced performance, graphical issues or cause the game to not run at all.
The NVIDIA GeForce FX series is unsupported under Vista. -
Will you have to have an external hard drive for the new Sims3 pc game. I heard that you do and I was just wondering. If so, how many GB's would I need?
We have heard that you can use an external hard drive although it is not recommended. You will need about 8GB for the game and content, however, we are sure that there will be expansion packs to come so you'd better make sure to buy an external hard drive large enough for the expansion packs as well. Instead of an external hard drive, you may consider upgrading your internal hard drive. If you don't have enough room on your internal hard drive, you can move other files over to an external and run the game on the internal.

Can I Download A Beta Of The Sims 3 If So When And How?
It is our understanding that in the past demos were not released for The Sims games. Since there is a history of Maxis not making demos available for The Sims, we don't really expect a demo for "The Sims 3." They usually rely on in house staff for testing but if they release a demo, you would probably find it here.

How do I upload my content?
Please register for the site first. Then go to the "contribute/content news" page and upload your content. You may also upload any graphics. Your content will go live once it is approved.

Is there any information on how much custom content will be able to create someone for the Sims 3? What types of Sims 2 custom content will vanish due to Sims 3 optimization?
We are supposed to be able to customize absolutely everything about in Sims 3. For instance, you will be able to customize your shoes to match the outfit etc. So, this will actually go a bit further than Sims 2.
As far as Sims 2, there will not be any changes as a result of the introduction of Sims 3. Most people will probably stop customizing Sims 2 as much and start focusing on Sims 3, however, existing Sims 2 sites will probably still exist and allow users to continue to access their content. So, you probably will not get much new stuff in Sims 2. More than likely (just a guess) EA/Maxis will probably not introduce any new Sims 2 content after the introduction of Sims 3. I am sure that they will have their hands full trying to keep up with Sims 3. More of a moving forward type effort.

when will we be able to start downloading custom content for the sims 3? ( hair, clothes, make-up ect...)
The game is set to be released the first part of June 2009. We think that it should take at least a couple of months to gain an understanding of the new Sims format but whenever contributors offer their content, we will post it so that Simsters can enjoy the wonderful creations.

Will custom content made for the Sims 2 be compatible with the Sims 3 game?
Our understanding is that the platform for the Sims 3 is different from the Sims 2. This means that you will NOT be able to use custom content from the Sims 2 for the Sims 3. We haven't tried it yet but if we can get any items to work, we will update the answer to this question.
